18-24 Months
Gross Motor Development

Play toss and catch with bean bags, balls or rolled up socks. Have your child aim at a large box or basket.

Play games or music that encourage jumping, marching, stomping or dancing. We like The "Party Freeze Dance" Song by THE KIBOOMERS

Sing songs with your child that encourages movement such as "Wheels on the Bus" and "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes."

Fine Motor Development
Play outside games that incorporate running and climbing.

Provide a variety of stackable items such as blocks, empty containers, books and boxes to encourage stacking and building

Sing songs that have hand and finger movements, such as “Itsy-Bitsy Spider.”

Show your child how to draw a line with finger in wet sand or finger paint. Use chunky crayons to encourage scribbling.

Let your child help with small tasks such as emptying or filling containers, opening and closing doors or anything that uses their hands.
